Taur-en-Faroth were the great hills that lay above Finrod Felagund's citadel of Nargothrond; they took their name ("Forest of the Hunters") from the woodlands that grew there.

The Woods of Núath was a wooded area in the north of Beleriand. It was bordered in the west by the hills lying north-west in West Beleriand south of the Ered Wethrin, and in the east by Eithel Ivrin, the source of Narog. The river Ginglith began in it.

Talath Dirnen, 'The Guarded Plain', was the empty land between Nargothrond and Doriath in West Beleriand, guarded ceaselessly by the followers of Finrod Felagund.

Amon Rûdh was a hill that lay south of the Forest of Brethil in West Beleriand during the First Age. It was a hill of stone, with only deep red seregon flowers growing on top, giving it the appearance of being covered with blood.

Nan-tathren, the "Land of Willows", was the region where the River Narog met the great River Sirion, a little to the north of the Sirion's Mouths. Famed for its willows and its flowered meadows, those who had visited this land reported its extraordinary beauty.
